Interim Speaker Lord Tangi invites nominations for Prime Minister [1]

Nominations for the Prime Minister Designate have been called for by the newly appointed Interim Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Rt. Hon. Lord Tangi ‘o Vaonukonuka. All all elected representatives of the Legislative Assembly may submit nominations.
Lord Tangi was appointed as the Interim Speaker by King Tupou VI, yesterday, 1 December, his third time in the role following a general election.
On Monday Lord Tangi invited all elected representatives of the Legislative Assembly to submit their nominations for Prime Minister Designate before a deadline of 4:30 pm on Friday, 12 December.
Elected representatives are scheduled to meet on Monday 15 December, to elect the Prime Minister Designate from among themselves.
Lord Tangi will guide the Assembly's proceedings until the Prime Minister Designate is elected, according to the process set out in the Schedule to the Constitution.
He will also oversee the process for electing the Speaker and Deputy Speaker for the 2025-2029 parliamentary term.
The Office of the Interim Speaker stated that they will continue to provide timely updates relating to the process for election of the Prime Minister Designate.
