The Taimi on June 9 reports that members of parliament will from now on draw a salary fortnightly, and not the lump sum that they used to receive at the beginning of the year.

The Kele'a on June 11 reports that a drunken 'Aloha Sekona of Fatai had a bruising encounter with several soldiers; while another soldier who is his neighbor looked on. Instead of rushing to hospital, 'Aloha cleaned his wounds and went straight to the Kele'a to have his injuries photographed.
The Taimi on June 12 reports that parliamentarians 'Etuate Lavulavu and Teisina Fuko were so forceful and vocal in their opposition to restrictions on media access to the House, that the Speaker had to caution them in case they suffered respiratory seizure.
The Kalonikali on June 12 quotes the Minister of Police as blaming alcohol for the instances of wives being beaten by their husbands.
