The Taimi on June 2 reports that a song composed and sung by child cancer sufferer Tae Kami had become the Tautahi Gold's anthem and was played in all their games. The Pacific Rugby Cup champion had previously donated money to the Tonga Cancer Society and after winning the tournament, the team presented a medal and a rugby jersey to Tae.
The Talaki on June 3 states that the People's Committee for Political Reform is "decomposing", because the committee has not held a meeting since the election. It has to do with pre-election machinations, it reports, with one committee insider accusing the Tongatapu's People's Representatives of stealing the poll. According to the Talaki the trio had appeared together on television just days before the election, wrongly impressing on the electorate that they were the committee's appointed candidates; and this was in contravention of an agreement among members that candidates were to campaign independently.
The Kele'a on June 3 states that the Tonga Defence Services had received information of a plot to kill the Prime Minister and burn his house, reporting that soldiers and police personnel have beefed up security around both the Prime Minister and his home.
The Kalonikali on June 5 reports that the Queen Mother is now 82-years-old.
