The installation of $1.4 million worth of new computers for Westpac Bank of Tonga, will guarantee that there will be no more stoppage in its EFTPOS services, said the new General Manager for Westpac Bank of Tonga, Ashleigh Matheson.
Ashleigh took over from Mishka Tu'ifua on Monday, May 26. He said that Mishka had done "a fantastic job" with Westpac Bank of Tonga and that the new computer system, which has been installed during the past two weeks should be in full operation by the end of the year. They are installing two back-up systems.
Ashleigh is not new to the Pacific, prior to his coming to Tonga he was with Westpac Fiji for two and a half years, overseeing their credit risk operation.
He has been with Westpac Bank since 1978, most of the time in New South Wales, Australia and most of the time at the Credit Risk division of the bank.
Westpac hosted a welcome cocktail for Ashley and his wife Tracey last Friday night at the Kaati-ni Restaurant.
