Accused denies destroying shop on 16/11 [1]

Fapiano Kali of Fanga appeared in the Nuku'alofa Supreme Court on May 16, and pleaded not guilty to the destruction of a Chinese shop during the riots of November 16, 2006.
The accused, who represented himself, pleaded not guilty to three charges of riotous assembly, the destroying of a Chinese shop that was located at the Victor Mataele Building in central Nuku'alofa and housebreaking.
The accused chose to be tried by judge alone, and the Chief Justice adjourned his hearing to begin on June 17 before Justice Warwick Andrew.
In the meantime, the accused indicated that he would find a lawyer to represent him.
