Tonga High School was the winner of Tonga's 2008 Inter College Sports Competition with a total of 50 medals, including 23 gold, 13 silver and 14 bronze medals.

Tonga High School snatched the top medals spot from Liahona High School who won the 2006 and 2007 Inter College Sports Competitions. Liahona dropped to a disappointing seventh place this year, following strong performances from 'Apifo'ou College and Queen Salote College and other schools. An outstanding performance was seen from the small Niuatoputapu team who won four gold medals.

 

 

 

In second place was 'Apifo'ou College with 42 medals, including 14 golds, 18 silver and 10 bronzes. Taking third place, was Queen Salote College with 14 gold, 8 silver and 7 bronze medals.

Lavengamalie College came in fourth place with 13 gold, 11 silver and 15 bronze medals.

Liahona High School, a strong contender in previous years, managed seventh place with 10 gold, 18 silver and 13 bronze medals.

 

The tiny Niuatoputapu team distinguished themselves by winning four gold medals, to rank in 12th position.

 

 

 

In the announcement of the Inter Collegiate Sports Medal table on Monday, April 14, the Best Sportswoman in the Open Girls division was awarded to Patiola Pahulu of Tonga High School, while Jack Ram of Lavengamalie College won the Best Sportsman for the Opens Men division.

The exciting national sports competition was held on April 9-11 at the Teufaiva Outdoor Stadium in Nuku'alofa.
