Vava'u team leads Inter College medal tally [1]

After the first day of the Inter College Sports, the Vava'u team held the top spot of the medal tally with seven medals but 'Apifo'ou College had won two gold medals.
At the first medal presentation this morning, Vava'u High School was awarded three silver medals in the Intermediate Boys 1,500m; the Open Boys 1,500m and the Senior Boys High jump; with four bronze medals in the Intermediate Boys 1,500m, the Open Boys 1,500m, the Intermediate Girls shot put and the Junior Girls long jump.
'Apifo'ou College and Liahona High school had four medals each.
But 'Apifo'ou held two gold medals in the Intermediate girls 1,500m and the Open Girls 1,500m. They also received a silver medal in the Senior Boys 1,500m and a bronze medal in the Midget Girls long jump.
Liahona High School held one gold medal in the Senior Boys high jump and three silver medals in the Intermediate Girls high jump, the Intermediate Girls shot put and the Midget Girls long jump.
The three-day event includes 10 track events and seven field events. The track events include the 3,000m, 1,500m, 800m, 400m, 200m, 100m, 4x400m relay, 4x100m relay, single hurdles and the long hurdles.
The field events include the long jump, shot put, javelin, high jump, triple jump, discus throwing and the pole vault.
In the second day the sports event began with the 800m hurdles for all grades in both girls and boys, while field events such as the long jump, high jump, discus throwing and pole vault was also held on the field. 
The medals are awarded daily.
