The Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) and UN Women have extended their partnership to promote gender equality and prevent violence against women and girls through football.

The renewed agreement was originally signed in 2022 where it allowed both organizations to continue their work in making football safe, inclusive and accessible for women.

The UN Women Representative for Fiji, Delphine Serumaga, said that the UN Women was pleased to support OFC and other member associations in their commitment to make football safe.

This partnership supported initiatives like ‘This is How We Football’, a programme that was launched in eight countries in 2024.

The programme helped broke down barriers for women and girls in sports.

The OFC General Secretary Frank Castillo said that a lot was achieved through this partnership and that they are excited to continue building on those foundations.

By continuing to work together, OFC and UN Women hope to use football to drive social change and create a future where women and girls can thrive both and off the field.
