LP gas price increase for Tongatapu and Vava'u [1]

Tonga's quarterly prices for Liquified petroleum gas both increased by TOP 0.10 /kg for Tongatapu and TOP 0.05/kg for Vava’u this week.
The Ministry of Trade and Economic Development (MTED) advised that the Tonga Competent Authority (TCA) has approved the new LPG prices for March to be effective from Monday, 3 March.
They stated that a rise in Saudi CP butane prices had influenced Tonga’s retail LPG prices.
“Normally, this would lead to a price increase, but the Annual/Triennial Review 2024 report endorsed by the Competent Authority meeting No. 2/25 on 26 February, 2025, introduced a 5 seniti/kg reduction due to lower operating costs, partially offsetting the higher Saudi CP impact,” MTED stated.
As a result, the LPG quarterly prices will both increase by TOP 0.10 /kg for Tongatapu and TOP 0.05/kg for Vava’u.
Similar to the monthly petroleum products, the quarterly LPG prices updates will now move to the first day of each quarter, unless this falls on a public holiday or weekend, it will be the next working day.
The table below shows the new LPG prices for Tongatapu, Vava’u, Pangai Ha’apai, ‘Ohonua ‘Eua, and Niuatoputapu. All prices include consumption tax.
