Tonga's Miss Galaxy Queen Pageant for 2008 will be held on August 6-8 following the celebrations of HM King George V's Coronation.

The three-nights event at the Queen Salote Memorial Hall will consist of six judging events, the International wear, Talent, Cocktail wear, Recycle wear, Niu/Coconut creation and Galaxy wear.

Joey Mataele, the founder of the Tonga Leiti...’s Association and organiser of the pageant, said today that they are hoping to attract 15 contestants this year and registrations will close in the last week of June.

The first prize is $1,000 pa...’anga with two return tickets to Los Angleles, USA. There will be other special prizes added on later, said Joey.

The colourful pageant is a popular event in the capital because the contestants who are fakaleitis, or young men who dress up as women, put on outrageous performances and fantasy outfits.

The guest of honour will be HRH Princess Pilolevu Tuita and her daughter Hon. Lupepau'u Tuita, the Patron of the Tonga Leiti's Association.

The current Miss Galaxy Queen is "Razatania" a 23 year old local hairdresser of Kolofo'ou.
