Met services track Tropical Disturbance TD02F west of Fiji [1]

Tropical Disturbance TD02F is being tracked by the Tonga Met. Services. At 12:00pm Wednesday 1 January 2023 it was located 1500km west northwest of Nuku'alofa. Image: TMS.

A Tropical Disturbance TD02F located to the west of Fiji (or about 1500km west northwest of Nuku'alofa) does not pose a threat to Tonga in the next 24 to 48 hours, the Tonga Meteorological Service, advised today, 1 January 2025.

“Tropical Disturbance TD02F was located near latitude 16.2 south and longitude 171.6 east or about 1500km west northwest of Nuku'alofa, Tongatapu at 12:00pm Wednesday 1 January,

2025. The potential for this system to develop into a Tropical Cyclone in the next 24 hours is very low.

“The system does not pose a threat to Tonga in the next 24 to 48 hours,” stated the Tonga Met advisory.
