The Ministry of MEIDECC as the Regulator for Communications, has officially granted approval for Starlink to provide high-speed internet services in Tonga.

Starlink have authorized resellers to acquire their services in Tonga, through TokoWireless Ltd (Wantok Tonga), Digicel Tonga Limited, and Tonga Communication Corporation (TCC).

"This significant development aims to enhance connectivity and support digital inclusion across the islands," stated MEIDECC CEO, Sione 'Akau'ola, on 20 December.

"This initiative marks a pivotal step in improving telecommunications infrastructure in Tonga, ensuring that all citizens have access to reliable internet services."

Starlink was granted a provisional temporary permit to operate in Tonga in July, for a period of six months.
