The first sealed nomination for Tonga's Prime Minister Designate was submitted yesterday, 20 December, tthe. Speaker's Office confirmed yesterday, 20 December..

“The Office of the Lord Speaker of the Legislative Assembly received the first written nomination for Prime Minister Designate this afternoon.

“The name of the candidate will be revealed at a meeting of the Elected Representatives on Tuesday 24 December 2024, where the sealed envelope containing the nomination will be opened,” said the statement.

The period allowed for receiving nomination of candidates for Prime Minister Designate from Elected Representatives is still open. It will close at 4.30pm on Monday 23 December 2024.
