A new brochure called the 'Kingdom of Tonga Visitors' Guide 2008' was launched today as part of the preparations by the Ministry of Tourism to cater for the visitors that will be attending the King's Coronation in August.
Tourism Director Edgar Cocker launched the new publication of 25,000 copies published by Jasons Travel Media, a New Zealand travel publisher at the Tourism Nuku'alofa office.
Edgar said the project costing $50,000 pa'anga is timely for the upcoming coronation celebrations, which will see many visitors to the Kingdom, "it also provides a wider exposure and tourism awareness for Tonga".
The colourful 64 pages brochure is free and outlines activities, historical and scenic sites, upcoming events and cultural details along with restaurants and accommodation for all island groups of Tonga.
The guide is distributed in New Zealand and Australia and copies will be send to the Tonga Consular offices in the United States and London and travel agents in the Pacific Islands and Tonga.
In Tonga for the launch of the brochure was Jasons South Pacific sales executive Frances Hinlopen.
