New CEO for Tonga Power Ltd [1]

Scott Westbury from New Zealand has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Tonga Power Ltd.
In a statement Tonga Power said, "This strategic leadership appointment is expected to drive TPL's continued progress and commitment to providing safe, reliable, and sustainable energy solutions for the Kingdom of Tonga.
"His comprehensive technical and leadership background positions him to lead TPL as it continues its mission to advance energy security and enhance the reliability of power generation and delivery for Tonga."
Mr. Westbury began his career at Rio Tinto, a British-Australian multinational company that is the world's second largest metals and mining corporation, where he spent six years advancing from a maintenance superintendent to project manager.
He then contributed 13 years of senior leadership at New Zealand Aluminium Smelters Limited, managing reduction, metal products, and assets.
From 2018 - 2024, Westbury served as General Manager of Power Schemes.
He holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronics and a Master of Engineering Management from the University of Canterbury, and a Master of Engineering in Light Metals Reduction Technology from the University of Auckland.
