Australian Tongans will welcome HRH Princess Angelika Lātūfuipeka Tuku’aho as their guest of honour on Queensland Tonga Day, a day-long celebration commemorating the establishment of the Tongan Constitution, to be held at the Bill Norris Oval in Beenleigh, Australia, on 2 November 2024.
Pastor Sulieni Layt said that it’s 149 years since King Siaosi Tupou I founded Tonga’s Constitution in 1875. This was after Tupou I had visited Australia, where he saw the Constitution of the Colony of New South Wales.
The princess is a direct descendant of King Siaosi Tupou I, will be the guest of honour at the event.
Sulieni said the events start at 7:30am and run until late on Saturday 2 November.
In Tonga, Monday 4 November is a public holiday for Constitution Day.
