Sangstar Saulala and 'Ofa Simiki, two candidates for the April Parliamentary Election appeared in court early this week.
Sangstar, a Tongatapu candidate was arrested on Sunday, March 2 after failing to turn up for an arraignment last week. He spent Sunday night in prison and appeared before Magistrate Salesi Mafi on Monday. He was ordered to appear again on Monday, February 10 when his case will be submitted to the Supreme Court.
'Ofa Simiki, one of the two Niuas' women candidate appeared in the Supreme Court yesterday to face charges relating to the riot in 2006.
'Ofa pleaded not guilty to five charges of sedition, abetment to arson, abetment to housebreaking and two charges of abetment to the damaging of a building, the Phoenix at Kolofo'ou during the riot.
