US Peace Corps Director to visit Tonga [1]

US Peace Corps Director Carol Spahn will Tonga next Tuesday, 20 August to meet with partner government officials, volunteers, and community partners.
While in Nuku'alofa, she will administer the oath of service to 19 new Peace Corps volunteers, meet with the Peace Corps volunteers and Blue Pacific Youth Champions in Tonga to learn about their current projects and collaboration with community members.
Director Spahn will first visit Fiji, and then Tonga, on her Pacific tour from 13 - 23 August.
"The Director’s visit will highlight the agency’s commitment to supporting the development priorities of Fiji and Tonga, with a strong emphasis on meeting their requests for partnership on climate resilience and inclusive economic development," stated US Washington Peace Corps office.
She will meet with the US Ambassador to Tonga, Marie Damour to discuss opportunities to deepen the Peace Corps’ work in Tonga that could support stronger bilateral relationships in the region.
"In both countries, Director Spahn will reflect on the Peace Corps’ long-standing partnerships with the people of Fiji and Tonga and discuss opportunities for further collaboration and continued impact."
