Travelling exhibition of Japanese contemporary painters opens at Tanoa [1]

A travelling exhibition of the prints of Japanese contemporary painters opened at the Tanoa International Hotel in Nuku’alofa today.
The exhibition, titled “Variation and Autonomy: The Prints of Contemporary Japanese Painters” consists of seven prints, which will be on display until Tuesday, 25 June.
It is hosted by the Embassy of Japan and the Japan Foundation. “This exhibition –will provide Tongan people with a unique opportunity to witness a rich Japanese history of contemporary printmaking,” said the organisers.
Among the prints is one of the works of a famous Japanese artist, Yayoi Kusama.
After Tonga, the exhibition will travel to Indonesia.
The Embassy of Japan said that the exhibition is free for the public to experience from 9:00am to 4:00pm on weekdays.
