Tapaita Fonokalafi wins Little Miss Aotearoa NZ 2024 [1]

Tapaita Fonokalafi (10) was crowned Little Miss Aotearoa New Zealand 2024, on April 21, at Papa Hou Theatre, in Christchurch, New Zealand. Tapaita was also chosen to represent New Zealand to the Little Miss Universe 2024 pageant, that will be held in Turkey from 9 - 14 May.
The Little Miss Aotearoa NZ contest presented six finalists aged 10 - 13 years from Invercargill, Christchurch, Wellington, Rotorua, Whangarei, and Otaio South Canterbury. The organisers said the pageant is aimed at building self-confidence in young contestants, encouraging them to embrace their unique beauty, qualities, and talents. It also emphasizes the importance of community involvement, prioritizing environmental education, and the importance of preserving natural surroundings.
Tapaita won the Community Award, and the overall Little Miss Aotearoa contest.
Tapaita is of Tongan descent, and the youngest of three children, from Otaio, South Canterbury. Her mother, Kasanita, entered her in the pageant. She proudly reported their success on social media this week.
