Liahona athlete shines at inter-collegiate sports [1]

Liahona High School snatched the most gold medals, broke the most records and claimed the best performance for 2024 at the four-days 97th Intercollegiate Athletics Competition, which closed today, 5 April 2024.
Teufaiva Stadium in Nuku’alofa was bursting with colours, and crammed with supporters from all over Tonga, to cheer on their favourite athletes in the sports that were sponsored by Tonga Health.
Liahona High School stood out in this year’s secondary school sporting competition, with the most records broken by their athletes and most gold medals won.
Lātū Latavao, was the golden star of Liahona, he won best athlete for the Boy’s Senior Grade, won over five gold medals and dominated all the events he participated in.
Events that Lātū won included the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m and, the 1500m race, he also won an additional two gold medals for the 4 x 100 relay.
The final medal tally and the champion of this year’s athletic competition will be announced later next week.
