Tonga's Privy council will meet with King Tupou VI in Vava'u, tomorrow morning, Thursday 28 March.

The members of the Privy Council are gathering in Neiafu today, ahead of the meeting.

A major issue that is likely to be discussed is the King's withdrawal of his confidence and consent to the appointments of two cabinet ministers: the Minister for His Majesty's Armed Forces Hon. Hu'akavameiliku, and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister of Tourism, Hon. Fekitamoeloa 'Utoikamanu.

To date there has been no public announcement regarding the possible resignations of the ministers, or the appointments of new ministers.

The members of the Privy Council [2] are:

• Rt. Hon. Rev. Semisi Fonua,
• Brigadier Rt. Hon. Lord Fielakepa,
• Rt. Hon. Lord Tangi ‘o Vaonukonuka,
• Hon. Rev. Dr. Tevita Koloa’ia Havea,
• Siosiua ‘Utoikamanu,
• Dr 'Ana Taufe’ulungaki

The members include the Chief of Staff of His Majesty's Armed Forces, Brigadier Rt. Hon. Lord Fielakepa.

Also in Privy Council is Siosiua ‘Utoikamanu, a former Minister of Finance, the husband of the Hon. Fekitamoeloa 'Utoikamanu (whose ministerial appointment is in question).

The issue has divided opinions among Tongans since the beginning of February this year.
