Tonga establishes diplomatic ties with Nepal [1]

The Government of Tonga formally established diplomatic relations with the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, with the signing of a joint communiqué by the Permanent Representative of Tonga to the United Nations, Viliami Va’inga Tone and Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Nepal to the United Nations, Lok Bahadur Thapa in a brief ceremony held on 1 March, 2024, at the Permanent Mission of Nepal, in New York.
The two ambassadors also signed a joint letter informing the UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres about the establishment of their diplomatic relations.
“We look forward to building our friendship and bilateral relations while capitizing on opportunities at the multilateral level,” stated the Permanent Mission of Tonga to the United Nations.
Meanwhile, they also exchanged views on various matters of common interest to strengthen bilateral cooperation in national and international forums, including at the UN, for the mutual benefit of the two countries.
