Fishing communities receive donation of 30 boats [1]

A donation of 30 small and medium-scale boats with outboard motors were given by the Nippon Foundation of Japan, to the Government of Tonga, on 28 February, at the Ministry of Fisheries main site, in Nuku'alofa.
The Nippon Foundation donated the boats to assist with the government's HTHH disaster recovery efforts. The Foundation will also include in this project the building of community halls.
Prime Minister Hon. Hu’akavameiliku acknowledged the donation handed over by the Mr Daisoji Toshiyuki from the Embassy of Japan and the Senior program Director of the Nippon foundation, Takehiro Umemura.
The Acting Minister for Fisheries Lord Fohe noted, "The gifting of these boats signifies the friendly relations between the Nippon Foundation and the Government of Tonga.”
He said these boats would support the coastal communities, fishing communities, and fishing associations, that were wrecked by the HTHH tsunamis.
