The suspended People’s Representative for Tongatapu 7, Hon. Piveni Piukala, was allowed to return to the Tonga Legislative Assemby sitting today, Monday 26 February, after the Speaker reduced his time out.

Hon. Piukala was suspended from the Parliament on 20 February, for seven days, until 28 February, after he offended the Prime Minister Hon. Hu'akavameiliku, who had filed a formal complaint against him alleging use of inappropriate words (last August). The decision of the standing committee was presented to the House last week.

However, the Lord Speaker, Lord Fakafanua reduced the suspension today, after he received a letter from the member, asking to reduce his suspension.

In parliament today, the Speaker urged Hon. Piukala to keep to the Rules and Regulations of the House.
