It is with sadness that we announce the death of Sir Edmund Hillary at 9.00am on Friday 11 January 2008, in Auckland.

At the request of the Minister for Arts, Culture and Heritage, the Right Honourable Helen Clark, the New Zealand Flag is to be half-masted on all New Zealand Government and public buildings today, Friday 11 January 2008 and tomorrow, 12 January 2008 (until midnight), and the day of the funeral which is yet to be confirmed, to mark the death of Sir Edmund Hillary.

Those wishing to convey their sympathies are invited to sign the condolence book located at the New Zealand High Commission. NZ High Commission, 12/01/08.
