Boat engines, sewing machines for Vava'u [1]

Community leaders at Ovaka island and Neiafu, Vava'u, received engines for fishing boats, sewing machines, greenhouses, and poultry facilities, donated by the Chinese Embassy in Tonga, to help boost livelihoods in the communities.
Chargé d'Affaires ad interim of the Chinese Embassy Mr. Ruan Dewen visited Neiafu and the outer island Ovaka, from 13 to 15 January, to handover their assistance.
“Our aim is to help the local people to achieve common prosperity. We Chinese people believe that benefits should be mutual. True and good development is development for all,” said Mr. Ruan.
Deputy Prime Minister and People’s representative of Vava’u 15, Hon. Samiu Vaipulu, thanked the embassy for the donations.
Governor of Vava’u Lord Fakatulolo, as well as community leaders from Ovaka and Neiafu, participated in the handover events.
