Tanoa Group owner Y.P. Reddy dies [1]

A well-known Fiji entrepreneur, Mr. Yanktesh Permal (Y.P.) Reddy, O.B.E, chairman of the board and owner of the Tanoa Group, died in New Zealand on 4 January, at the age of 89 years.
The Tanoa Group is the owner of the Tanoa Dateline Hotel in Nuku’alofa, and has 10 south Pacific hotel properties in Fiji, Samoa and New Zealand.
The Tanoa Group took over Tonga’s International Dateline Hotel for redevelopment in 2015 [2], under a 99-year leasing agreement with the Tonga government.
Y.P. Reddy was born in Nausori, Fiji, on 5 November 1934. He moved to Lautoka in the 1960s.
He co-founded the Reddy Group of companies, which commenced operation as a small construction group in 1947. He later became the managing director and chairman of the conglomerate.
Mr Reddy is survived by his wife Vimla and five children.
The family announced that Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, January 6, at 1:00 pm, at Anns Funeral Home, 11c Bolderwood Place, Wiri in Auckland.
