Rise Up - the hottest hip hoppers in town - free styled their way to win the $1,000 cash prize in last night...’s Hip Hop Competition hosted by Nuku'alofa's Cool 90FM.

The group of young men gave a fantastic performance and walked off the stage at the Teufaiva Outdoor Stadium, with the first prize.

It was a tough but fun competition among nine participating Hip Hop Groups showcasing moves that required not only fitness but also flexibility.

The second prize of $700 pa...’anga went to the Fili Tonu, and the Jesters Matiks won the third prize of $500 pa'anga.

Also participating were the Houmakelikao Lockdown, Fika I Le Pese, Oldtown Boyz, Gifted Accent, Cripz and Cirkuz Quad.

Special prizes of $100 pa'anga were also awarded for the Best Costume won by Fika I Le Pese and the most popular group went to Fili Tonu.

The Hip Hop Competition was in two categories, the first category required groups to dance to a mix theme song by Chris Brown and Fergie, and the second category was the alternative songs and they were free to dance to a song of their choice.

The Hip Hop Competition is an annual event that has been organized by Cool 90FM since 2002, but last night was their biggest with about 10,000 fans packed into the Teufaiva Stadium.
