The founder and the director of 'Atenisi Institute 'Ilaisa Futa-'I-Ha'angana Helu is celebrating his 70th birthday this week with a seminar held at the Institute in his honour.

The two-day seminar on the theme, "The 'Atenisi Critical/Theoretical Phlosophy of Education: revisited". was officially opened yesterday June 15, by Princess Kaimana Tuku'aho. The seminar program includes many guest speakers, including Professor Leialoha Perkins on the topic, "Socrates, in the Tongan village Kalapu kava, Tonga's university withou Walls"; by Dr Eve Coxon on "Some critical reflections on Education in the Pacific"; Filimone Latu on "An analysis of the real number systems: a theoretical approach"; Langitoto Helu on "the role of objectivity versus subjectivity in mathematical modelling"; and Kalafi Moala and Sefita Ha'uli presenting a short biography of 'Ilaisa Futa-'I-Ha'angana Helu.

The three-day celebration will end on June 17 with a dinner-concert to be held at the Patelesio Finau/Sofele Kakala Hall, 'Apifo'ou College. Entertainment will be provided by the 'Atenisi Foundation for Performing Arts AFPA with items by some of Tonga's most popular opera performers such as 'Atolomake Helu, 'Ana fifita, Niulala Helu, Tricia Hurrell, Telusila Mausia, Soane Po'oi and Kipi Fifita.
