MBF Bank celebrates 30th anniversary in Tonga [1]

MBF Bank Tonga celebrated its 30th anniversary of operation in Tonga, with a reception held on 28 October, at Liku'alofa.
Around 100 people attended the celebration, including the 34 staff of the bank; the guest of honour, board chairman of the National Reserve Bank of Tonga, Lord Sevele of Vailahi; international representatives from the bank’s headquarter in Malaysia; and a bank director, Dr Masaso Paunga.
MBF Bank Tonga commenced operations on 29 October 1993, and is one of the four fully commissioned Commercial Banks in Tonga under the supervision of National Reserve Bank of Tonga. It is a privately owned business with headquarters to Malaysia. The current general manager for Tonga, Mr Anton Rajapakse, took over new role in November last year, succeeding Mr H. K. Yeoh.
MBf operates in nine countries, including Fiji, Vanuatu, PNG, Solomon Islands, Australia, Thailand, USA, and Malaysia.
The Bank has two branches in Tonga: a main branch in Nuku’alofa and an outer islands branch in Vava’u.
