Seventy children in Tongatapu participated in a Plant & Earn Workshop, a new initiative that teaches environment sustainability and wise spending from childhood onwards.
The Plant & Earn Workshop was a collaboration between Bunny’s Backyard, a locally-owned gardening business, and BSP Tonga Limited, held on 21 October,; in Ma’ufanga.
The workshop aimed to promote the concepts of working and earning an income, with a first-hand experience for children under 10 years old.
Workshop activities included gardening, sowing seeds into trays, moving seedlings to garden beds, and watering the transplanted seedlings, and also some other fun activities.
On completion of the workshop tasks, each child earned an allocated amount of money, that will be deposited in to their BSP Kids Savings Account.
BSP Tonga Limited trialled their pilot digital financial literacy app and the children got to play on this and provide feedback.
