New CEO for MEIDECC appointed [1]

Sione Pulotu 'Akau'ola was appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer for MEIDECC, the Ministry of Meteorology, Energy, Information, Disaster Management, Environment, Climate Change, Communication and Cert, today, 7 September.
He took his oath and signed a four-year contract before Hon. Hu'akavameiliku, in the PM's capacity as Acting Minister for MEIDECC. He was joined by members of his family and the Public Service Commission for the occasion.
He takes over the position from Paula Ma’u who was the acting CEO for MEIDECC, and was appointed as Chief Secretary and Secretary to Cabinet in January.
‘Akau'ola was previously CEO for the Public Enterprises after being reappointed to the role in 2019 by the Public Service Commission.
He holds a Masters of Business Administration (2003) and a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Economics and Management & Public Administration (1999) from the University of the South Pacific, Fiji.
He comes from Kanokupolu and Nukunuku on Tongatapu.
