Over 30 new homes for Tongatapu and 'Eua built under cyclone relief project [1]

Over 30 new houses have been completed with more under construction for families in Tongatapu and ‘Eua, whose homes were destroyed by Severe Tropical Cyclone Gita in 2018.
The Ministry of Infrastructure handed over house keys to five families on Thursday 31 August.
The families were, Vaisioa Hala'api'api from Kolonga, Timote 'Eteaki from Houma, 'Otolouta Fakapulia from Kahoua, and Uatesoni Afu from Popua.
The Ministry of Infrastructure stated that 40 houses were planned to be built under the project Twenty were completed in Tongatapu and 13 completed in 'Eua. Seven were still under construction.
The Minister for Infrastructure Hon. Sevenitini Toumoua said that the Prime Minister’s government focused on members of our community who were living in poverty.
The CEO of Infrastructure Lopeti Heimuli, stated that there were obstacles faced by the Ministry during the project, as they were also asked to include houses destroyed by fires in 2018, and from the past five years.
The project was initiated by Princess Pilolevu, who asked Simon Xie and his Sino Union Constructions to take part in the project, and allocated a budget of TOP$80,000 per house. Sino Union Constructions, also donated stoves, and fridges for the houses.
