Tonga's Honorary Consul General in Sydney, Australia, Louise Waterhouse, has announced the death of her mother, Suzanne Waterhouse, who passed away on Sunday 27 August at the age of 93 years.
Suzanne, a Sydney socialite, and her husband the late, Bill Waterhouse, were friends of Tonga's royal family, and hosted them in Sydney on many occasions.
Louise said, “Suzanne was a passionate supporter of Tonga having supported my father’s work as Honorary Consul General from 1975 to 1999 and frequently accompanied him to Tonga - including on the Sydney University Old Boys Tour in 2005. And was a guest at the Coronation for King George Tupou V.”
“In recognition of her work for Tonga she was awarded the Grand Cross of the Royal Household in 2015 by His Majesty King Tupou VI.”
“She was the longest serving president of the Consular Woman’s Club in Sydney and in March hosted HRH Crown Prince Tupouto’a, in Kirribilli, for morning tea. A month earlier she hosted HE Ms Lucy Joyce OBE High Commissioner for Great Britain to Tonga, along with the US Consul General Christine Elder and other members of the Consular Corps in Sydney, at her own 93rd Birthday Party,” said Louise.
