Three-day SIDS preparatory meeting concludes in Nuku'alofa [1]

The Regional Preparatory Meeting of the Pacific SIDS came to conclusion this evening, 18 August, at Fa’onelua Convention Center, in a closing ceremony hosted by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Fekitamoeloa ‘Utoikamanu.
“We have critically and vigorously assessed our progress to date. We have identified the gaps to meet the goals. We have set the path of action to overcoming the emerging challenges and seize all opportunities towards implementing the Samoa pathway, and the preparations for its 10 year successor,” Hon. ‘Utoikamanu said in her closing remarks.
The Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs UNDESA and Secretary General of the 4th International Conference on SIDS, Mr. Li Junhua, gave his heartfelt gratitude to all members and partners of SIDS, and also those who joined virtually, who were able to complete a successful three day meeting.
Deputy Prime Minister Hon Samiu Vaipulu, the Chinese Ambassador to Tonga HE Mr Cao Xiaolin, and members of SIDS and delegates were present, closing off the third and final preparatory meeting for the region.
A formal dinner and cultural dances was held afterwards.
