The Houma Police Station will resumed its operations today after over eight years of operating from the Nukunuku station.
Tonga Police advised that their station at Houma would reopen to provide normal policing service starting on 14 August 2023.
The head officer for the Houma Station, Mr Takataka said that the operations from the Houma Station stopped in early 2015, due to the building being “very old, rusty and unsafe,” he said.
The newly built station is part of the Government reconstruction project that includes the ‘Atata Si’i resettlement project and other reconstruction.
Houma Police Station services will primarily cover the communities of ‘Utulau, Ha’alalo, Ha’akame, Houma, Vaotu’u, Fahefa, Kala’au, and Ha’utu at the Western District.
Operating hours will be from 8am-12am, from Monday to Sunday (telephone 43-312). Tonga Police stated that it is important for the communities within the Houma Police Station’s area of operation to be aware of these operating hours.
Any enquiries or complaints outside of those times will be directed to the Nukunuku Police Station or call telephone 41-133.
