A Tongan LDS Missionary, Papa Fe’iloaki (22) died 29 July 2023 shortly after being admitted to a hospital while serving his mission at Olongapo, Philippines.

A family member told Matangi Tonga that the news was unexpected and that they were still waiting on the results of the autopsy.

“Right now, the cause of death is still being determined so we don’t know what exactly caused his death.”

It was reported by KUTV, Salet Lake city- that Fe’iloaki was admitted to the hospital with a fever and pneumonia.

Mission

He began working his Mission for the LDS Church in July last year in Nuku'alofa before travelling to Olongapo, Philippines with another Tongan.

Fe'iloaki, the second\of five children, was described by family members as "a very caring and loving young man, who sacrificed a lot to provide and take care of us." After losing his father in 2018, Fe'iloaki become the man of the house. He dropped out of high school to take care of their mother and his younger siblings while also covering for his older sister who had to leave in 2021 for her mission.

Upon his sister's return, Fe'iloaki enrolled at Fokololo-e-hau Institute while also juggling church responsibilities.

The LDS church also acknowledged his hard work and dedication to serving his mission for the church.
