Highlights from Tonga's newspapers, November 12-15, 2007. An English translation summary by Tevita Fonua.

Tonga's $118 million loan from China, has to be the sorriest loan application in the world; coming as a request from a poverty stricken country to a nation whose people we have ill-treated, the Kalonikali reports on November 15, quoting 'Eseta Fusitu'a, the Chief Secretary to Government and Cabinet.

The Talaki on November 14 reports that Ha'apai People's Representative 'Uliti Uata was dropped from a parliamentary team that is visiting China, and replaced by fellow Ha'apaian 'Osai Latu. 'Uliti is among those facing charges relating to last November's riot, that razed businesses including those owned by members of the Chinese community.

The Taimi on November 12 disclosed that Christopher Racine was still awaiting payment from Tokaikolo Church President Rev Dr Liufau Saulala, who had reportedly signed a contract to buy TV OBN for US$275,000.

According to the Kele'a on November 14, the protesters who are camping day and night on a property named Temo at the Tofoa intersection, are being provided food, money, and kava by the public, and they are determined to stay there until political reform is accomplished.

One year on from 16/11 and people, according to the Taimi on November 15, are getting used to seeing more concrete slabs than houses in central Nuku'alofa.
