Wednesday, July 19, 2023 - 22:18
Registration for the 2023 Pacific Access Category ballot, which opens on 1 August will enable people from Pacific Islands, including Tonga the chance to obtain resident visas in New Zealand
NZ Immigration stated if your registration is drawn from the ballot they then invite to apply for residence. Those eligible are those from Kiribati, Tuvalu, Tonga and Fiji between the ages of 18-45.
This year, up to 1650 Samoan citizens, 500 Tongan and Fijian citizens and 150 Kiribati and 150 Tuvaluan citizens will be selected by ballot.
Also open on the same time is the registration for the Samoan Quota. Both ballots will close on 31 August 2023 at 17:00 (NZST).
"The Samoan Quota and Pacific Access Category are two longstanding visa categories that allows people from the Pacific to become permanent residents in New Zealand. Both schemes operate through an annual ballot."
