A group of students and teachers from Newington College of Sydney, Australia visited Tupou College from 6-13 July. 

Asolua Fiu Fifita, Head of International Department at Tupou College, said this was the first tour group to visit as part of their annual tour, post COVID-19.

A total of 27 boys and five staff members, includied tour leader Melissa Mitresky, the head of Whittaker House and Lachlan Fear, the Director of Rugby at the school. 

Asolua said this tour was to strengthen the bond of brotherhood between the two schools since they shared the same founding Headmaster, Dr James Egan Moulton.

She said the staff helped in the Tupou College International Stream classes since they are offering the New South Wales syllabus at the college. The boys also played a friendly rugby match with the Tupou College Under 15.

The group were introduced to the Tongan culture, toured the school, helped the students in the class and farm work.

Newington College has a long-standing partnership with Tupou College with the late Dr James Egan Moulton starting Newington College in 1863 and Tupou College in 1866.

Tupou College is a secondary school operated by the Free Wesleyan Church.
