Training fosters a security culture in Tonga airport operations [1]

A National Aviation Security Culture Training for the industry was conducted in Tonga by advisors from the New Zealand Civil Aviation Authority (NZCAA) on 27-29 June.
Advisors, Athol Glover and Taliha Ono arrived in the Kingdom to conduct a three-day Civil Aviation training program. Taking part were representatives from Tonga Airports Ltd, Tonga Police, Airport Terminal Services, Palu Aviation, Lulutai Airlines and CAD staff. Six sessions were hosted by the Ministry of Infrastucture (MOI).
MOI stated on a Facebook post that the objective of this training was to enhance security in operations at the airport through encouraging service providers to foster a security culture within the organization.
The NZCAA Principal Aviation Security Advisor, Athol Glover, TAL and CAD had a meeting to discuss the an ongoing capacity support project by the MFAT to Tonga on 28 June.
This project is centered on MFAT assisting TAL with provision, installation and maintenance of brand-new screening equipment for both Fua’amotu and Lupepau’u Airports.
There were also discussions of further assistance from MFAT to Tonga to be finalized.
