PM talks key issues with Int'l Union for Conservation of Nature [1]

Prime Minister Hon Hu’akavameiliku received a courtesy visit from Dr. Bruno Oberle the Director General of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), on 29 June at Nuku’alofa, Tonga.
Hon. Hu'akavameiliku and Dr Oberle discussed issues of key strategic importance, including climate change, deep sea mining, and illegal unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.
PMO stated that Tonga is a valued IUCN state member and key partner in building a better future with IUCN. Dr Oberle is a leading expert in the fields of sustainable resource management and green economy. He has explored and shaped the interface between environmental policy, economic development and social equity.
