School furniture, including desks and chairs donated by Catholic Schools in Australia, is being put to use by school students during their exams this week, at 'Apifo'ou College.

The donation was handed over by Swire Shipping, who shipped the furniture to Tonga in two 40ft containers, in support of HM Queen Nanasipau'u's Charity.

On 20 June, Swire Shipping's Country Manager Christina Heng visited the school to see how the desks and chairs were being utilised.

The Principal, Father ‘Ekuasi, in expressing expressed gratitude said this was a great upgrade from their old desks and chairs, which brings joy to their students. The donation maximises their learning, he said.

‘Apifo’ou is the first recipient of the school furniture. Other containers with more donations are expected to arrive in Tongatapu later.
