The Miss Face of Tonga Pageant 2007 has attracted six local beauties, who made their first appearance today at the Kahana Resort, on the shores of the Fanga'uta Lagoon.
The contestants are Miriam Ngaue (21) of Ma'ufanga, Kaufusi Tu'iono (18) of Sopu, Latu Lokotui (15) of Mataika, Esther Tohi (18) of Fasi, Tangisi Moimoi (18) of Longolongo and Beautyanne Taufa (19) of Ma'ufanga.
Kerry Mataele, the organiser of the Miss Face of Tonga Pageant, said that competition was initiated five years ago with the aim to build-up the self-esteem and confidence of local girls. Last year it was cancelled because of the November 16 riot in Nuku'alofa.
Kerry said that the Miss Face of Tonga pageant is significant because it, "awards each participant a scholarship if they wish to pursue further study in their chosen career, at either St Joseph's Business College or 'Ahopanilolo Technical College."
The competition will have three judging events of Island Creation, talent and Career Uniform and will be held for one night only at a venue to be confirmed.
