The Legislative Assembly 2023 session will convene on Monday, 12 June. The first item on the agenda is the reply to the address by King Tupou VI that was delivered during the state opening on 1 June.
Parliament's Office stated today that a Select Committee had been tasked with drafting a response to the King’s opening adresss, before reporting to the House.
Monday’s discussions on the content of reply will not be made public or broadcast until it is first delivered to the King. Normally, when Parliament approves the reply, the Speaker Lord Fakafanua will appoint members to deliver Parliament’s Reply, before anything can proceed.
Also top on Parliament's agenda is deliberation on the Budget Estimate for 2023/24 financial year, which must be passed before 1 July.
