Tonga represented at 76th World Health Assembly [1]

Tonga was represented by the Minister of Health Hon. Dr. Saia Piukala at the 76th World Health Assembly held in Geneva, Switzerland from 21-30 May.
He joined other delegations from WHO Member States.
Hon. Dr. Saia Piukala spoke on agendas concerning Tonga and the Western Pacific Region in relation to the theme of this year’s Health Assembly “WHO at 75: Saving lives, driving health for all”, stated the Ministry of Health.
At the same time, the Director-General of the World Health Organisation, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus through his twitter, acknowledged Hon. Dr Piukala in supporting WHO and his interest to take a more proactive role in the Pandemic Accord negotiations. He also thanked him for attending the Assembly, when they met on 29 May.
The Tongan delegation included Dr Reynold 'Ofanoa of the Ministry of Health accompanied by Sunia Soakai from SPC.
The World Health Assembly is the decision-making body of WHO.
