A special maritime surveillance is being carried out by an Australian Defence Force C-27J plane to provide support regional maritime surveillance operations in Tonga from 23-25 May.
On 24 May, the plane carried Deputy Prime Minister Samiu Vaipulu, Lord Fohe and CEOs, along with our Deputy High Commissioner of Australia, Erin Gleeson.
Erin told Matangi Tonga today that the plane was visiting Tonga to support regional maritime surveillance operations.
The flight provided an opportunity for Tongan Leaders to see how Australia and Tonga are working together, and with the region, to detect and deter illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing activity, she said.
