Interplast surgical specialists return to Tonga [1]

A team from Interplast Australia and New Zealand returns to Tonga from 25 May to 3 June to carry out general plastic and reconstructive surgical services and training, at Vaiola Hospital. This after three years of absence due to COVID-19 restrictions.
The team led by surgeon Dr David Morgan, will include two surgeons, two anaesthetists and two nurses.
Due to the length of time since Interplast has last visited Tonga, the local surgical team are pre-screening patients from an existing large caseload, and the usual public consultations clinics will not run for this visit.
Patients who require an assessment for plastic and reconstructive surgical conditions (including cleft lip and palate, scarring from burns, hand injuries and tumours), are urged to contact the surgical unit at the hospital to make an appointment at the regular Outpatients Clinic.
This is Interplast’s 42nd visit to Tonga since 1984, made possible through the generosity of Rotary Clubs in Australia, and the Australian Government through the Australia NGO Cooperation Program (ANCP).
Interplast stated they are delighted to have been invited to return to Tonga, after three-years of absence of the specialist surgical teams, due to Covid-19.
