The Taimi on October 15 reports that Minister of Police Siaosi 'Aho turned down an application from the committee chaired by 'Akilisi Pohiva to stage a protest march during the Forum leaders summit.

The Talaki on October 17 quoted Greg Urwin as saying that Tonga does not feature in the agenda of the Forum leaders summit; they will focus instead on Fiji and the Solomon Is. According to Lopeti Senituli, Tonga was in the radar briefly after 16/11, then disappeared; as the unrest was swiftly contained.

The PSA, as reported in the Kele'a on October 17, will commemorate Poverty Day by urging its members to each donate one kilogram of food, to be distributed to the residents of the Patangata settlement.

The Kalonikali on October 18 reports that phase two of the construction of Tonga High School has been shelved. The Chinese funded project is put on hold, while the government concentrates on the rebuilding of Nuku'alofa.

Tonga College celebrates its 125th anniversary next week by dedicating a new fence and a new bus stop, built by the PTA and ex-students.

Fiji Interim Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama expressed his gratitude to the Tongan PM, in the Taimi on October 18, for inviting him to the Forum meeting.

And Noble Tu'iha'ateiho announced that no political assembly would be tolerated in his estate, Ha'ateiho; it effectively banned a proposed meeting by 'Akilisi Pohiva and his committee on the Sila Peluua rugby field.
